Joel Feldman was
born during a blizzard in New York City, he grew up in
semi-rural Pennsylvania. After college in Lancaster, PA,
Boston, MA, and Greensboro, NC, where he received a Masters of
Fine Arts, he taught theatre and communication at universities
in Frankfort, KY and Salem, MA. When he moved to Oklahoma City
for family reasons, he returned to school, getting a second
masters degree in Psychology, which led to work at Oklahoma
Goodwill Industries. After learning American Sign Language, he
became a Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Counselor for the Deaf
with Oklahoma’s Department of Rehabilitation Services. After
almost 10 years in that position, Joel was ready for a change
and moved to Las Vegas as a VR Counselor with Nevada’s Bureau of
Vocational Rehabilitation, where he served as liaison to the
Mesquite, Overton, Moapa areas, including the Las Vegas Paiute
Tribe; he now serves the tribe as their vocational
rehabilitation Project Manager.
In his other professional life in the performing arts, Joel has
been with the Oklahoma State Arts Council as an
Artist-in-Residence as JoJo Mime and as a member of their
Touring Program as a musician. He has played on the Strip, at
the Mount Charleston Hotel, and various venues around Las Vegas,
and looks forward to future performing opportunities. |
